This is my very favorite photo
that I took while I was in Taiwan
over twenty-five years ago.
Isn't it sweet?
We were boarding a train
to take us somewhere else,
and I saw this elderly couple
waiting beside the tracks.
The little woman was
hunched over with age,
and her loving husband
carefully guided her along.
I love his smile,
so uncharacteristically happy
upon greeting a foreigner,
especially one who wants
to take a picture!
I'm sure they long ago
passed on,
but wouldn't it be amazing,
with the magic of the internet,
if I could find
someone who knew them
and loved them,
and give them this memento?
It will probably never happen,
but wouldn't it be nice?
