Earlier this year,
we went to the
State High School
Girls Basketball Championship Game.
Our high school girls
had made it to the
finals, and our friend
was one of the
starting five.
.
As we watched the warm-ups, I noticed that one of the
refs was a girl.
I like girl refs,
but I wondered
how she would handle
this high-stakes
game.
It was almost time
for the game to start when I
realized we were
surrounded by fans
cheering for the
opposing team.
That's a little
intimidating.
But I decided to
be friendly
and speak to the couple
sitting next to me.
Turns out
they were the parents
of the girl ref.
There they were,
taking photos
and cheering her on,
even when she made bad calls.
Who would
have thought it?
Even the ref has some fans!
