I love Crayola Crayons.
There's just something about
a new box of crayons...
It's the anticipation
of opening that
brand-new box.
It's the feel of the smooth new tip
rubbing its color
onto the paper.
It's the waxy smell that
takes me back
to second grade.
But most of all,
it is the color--
that bright, deep, vivid
variety of color.
When I was a kid,
I loved to color.
I spent many good hours
with a coloring book
and crayons.
And I knew
all their names.
Remember Carnation Pink,
and Periwinkle,
and Copper?
How about
Burnt Sienna, and Violet Blue,
and Magenta?
I remember a contest
when my kids were young
where people could help
rename Crayola Crayons.
Two of the winners were
Purple Mountains' Majesty
and Macaroni and Cheese!
Now there are names like
Inchworm,
Atomic Tangerine,
Tickle Me Pink,
Jazzberry Jam,
and Robin's Egg Blue...
just to name a few.
What are your favorite colors
of Crayola Crayons?

How many did you get right?!

"Inconceivable.
You keep using that word.
I do not think it means
what you think it means."
William Goldman, The Princess Bride

"Oh well....
I'd just been thinking...
if you had died,
you'd have been welcome
to share my toilet."
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

are going to look tame
next to what's
waiting for you at home!"
